Best designer half sarees for the modern Indian bride


Designer Half sarees or also known as designer Langa Voni are basically traditional wear for girls of young age, essentially from puberty to until they get married. It is mainly a dress of Southern India and was mostly worn by girls from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and so on. They comprise of a Langa and a Voni, the Langa being a skirt-like piece of garment worn at the waist and held in place by a string and the Voni is a cloth of length 2m-2.5m. It is usually draped from the left shoulder diagonally. However for adult women the Voni is tucked in front of the skirt and wrapped around the waist then draped over the opposite shoulder by pleating it manually.

Although this traditional form of Indian women’s attire had lost its popularity, it is gaining its vogue day by day. As many famous models and celebrities are seen making a fashion statement by showing up at big TV events in designer half sarees.


The most attractive feature of the designer half saree is that the front of the drape has a bright contrasting color and design than the loose end of the drape (pallu). Also the Voni comes in a contrasting color than the Langa to give the wearer extra chic and flamboyance. Trendy half sarees are a great modern fit for wedding wear also and come in a variety of materials for all kinds of occasions. Simple minimalistic designs with floral patterns on colors such as black with light green thread work or off white with gold are great for formal gatherings. Materials used mostly for simple half sarees include chiffon, georgette, silk, cotton, raw silk, jute silk etc. for bridal wear one can also find exuberant designer half sarees with heavy embellishments and zari work on Banarasi sarees, net, velvet, satin and so on that will provide you with the best opulence and grandeur of a bride.
